We have developed a novel UV radiation dosimeter that allows a real-time estimation of the dose of harmful ultraviolet UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C radiations emitted by the sun and artificial sources. When exposed to UV radiation, our UV Dosimeter visibly change color from the starting light-yellow to blue to dark violet. The color change correlates to levels of accumulated UV irradiation. The proposed UV dosimeter enables users to control a skin sunburn level caused by UV light from the sun and artificial sources, and visually monitor how much harmful radiation has been delivered to a surface, which helps them see if surfaces have received enough energy to kill bacteria, viruses, and spores – including Covid-19. The proposed UV dosimeter is environmentally safe, exhibits excellent photochromic properties, improved photosensitivity, high spatial resolution. It can be efficiently reused over 200 cycles without compromising its readability.

One of the actual directions of modern polymer science is creation and research of graded materials with different (mechanical, optical, electrical, magnetic, etc.) properties. There are different methods of receiving such materials. We have developed and patented the original technical solution for obtaining graded polymer and composite materials, according to which the creation of gradient of properties is conditioned by graded orientation of isotropic materials. Graded orientation is created using specific devices. The improvement of the technical characteristics of these devices significantly contributes to the development of graded material science. The constriction of the addon device is proposed that allows to carry out of graded orientation in combination of addon device with any standard stretching machine. A mathematical model of graded orientation of polymer materials is developed, which enables to work out polymer materials with preset dimensions and distribution of relative elongation.

New Technical Access for Creation of Gradually Oriented Polymers, Apple Academic Press, Science and Technology of Polymers and Advanced Materials. Applied -Research- Method, 2019 Chapter 18|12 pagesState Target Program

A new technical solution of zonal gradient and homogeneous stretching of linear polymers is described. The design features of the device allow to regulate the quantitative characteristics of oriented materials strictly. The version of zone heater, cooler, and their displacement mechanism in the form of an independent unit makes it possible to carry out zonal stretching practically on any tensile device.

Method and Mathematical Modeling of Formation of Gradually and Homo-geneously Oriented Linear Polymers, Hindawi International Journal of Polymer Science Volume 2019, Article ID 8132518, 11 pages State Target Program

An algorithm and a mathematical model are proposed for managing the process of forming materials of a new type—gradually and homogeneously oriented linear polymers (polymer composites) with a given distribution of relative elongation. The transformation of isotropic polymers (polymer composites) into a gradually or homogeneously oriented state is carried out on a specially designed device for uniaxial, zonal stretching. The design feature of the device is the use of an active cooler with the ability to move adjustable speed/acceleration and direction of movement in the process of stretching the test sample. This provides a predetermined (constant or changing) extent of the stretching zone in the process of drawing the sample. The description and principles of operation of the uniaxial, zonal stretching device are given. The experimental data illustrating the capabilities of the method and the effectiveness of the mathematical modeling are presented. Gradient orientation can be considered as an effective scientific and technical innovation for creating functionally graded materials with a gradient of microstructure (gradient degree of orientation/relative elongation of the polymer matrix) or chemical composition (volume fraction of functional fillers), respectively, based on a single polymer/copolymer or polymer composites containing functional fillers.

Spiropyran Doped Liquid Crystal Film for the Monitoring of Human Ecology Upon Exposure to UV Radiation: An Environmentally Friendly Approach, Apple Academic Press, September 2023.State Target Program

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a form of electromagnetic radiation that comes from the sun and man-made sources. UV radiation can damage the DNA (genes) in cells, which in turn may lead to cancer. Most skin cancers are a result of exposure to UV rays in sunlight. We have developed a novel UV radiation dosimeter that allows a real-time estimation of the dose of harmful ultraviolet UV-A and UV-B radiations emitted by the sun and artificial sources. When exposed to UV radiation, our UV Dosimeter visibly change color from the starting yellow to blue to dark violet. The color change correlates to levels of accumulated UV radiation.
