In 1966 he graduated forest faculty of the Georgian Agricultural Institute. Worked in the State Committee of Forestry as an engineer. After graduating the post graduate courses of Tbilisi Institute of Forest he worked at the same Institute as junior and after defending thesis of candidate of science as senior researcher. From 1980 he works in the Center Studying Productive Forces and Natural Resources of Georgia as a senior researcher. In 1980 he graduated the English faculty of the Tbilisi institute of foreign languages. Scope of scientific interests: ecology and sustainable development of mountain forests; problems of forest degradation; forest role in ecological stabilization of mountain regions; forests biodiversity and its defense; problems of climate change and forests role; forests and other green spaces role in defending big cities from air and noise pollution.

Natural Resources of Georgia and Prospects of Sustainable Development of Productive Forces Tbilisi, Georgia202117. 11. 2021Technical University of GeorgiaPresent Condition of Forests of Georgia and Existed Challengesoral

Major part of forests of Georgia are degraded and need rehabilitation. Most of all have been degraded beech forests due to their valuable wood. It has historical and economic reasons that began in early centuries and continued nowadays The new wave of forest degradation was observed just in last decades, 2006-2012, when long-term licenses for forest exploitation have been given to foreign businessmen. As it occurred this decision wasn't as profitable as it was expected for the country's budget. On contrary it had adverse ecological effects and further increased beech forests degradation. To rule out such voluntary decisions of the governments in future we must develop the real sustainable forest management based on internationally admitted principals instead of declarative one that will be defended legally and won't allow any governments in future to take decisions resulting in deterioration of ecology, degradation of forests and loss of biodiversity of the country

The sixth international conference: yesterday, today, tomorrowGeorgia, Tbilisi201813-14 ოქტომბერიtechnical University of GeorgiaThe present level of using non-wood forest resources in Georgia and prospektoral

Non-wood forest resources comprise: wild fruit and berries, chest-nuts, hazel-nuts, aromatic plants, wild honey, medicine plants etc. Due to improper management practise these products neither accounted, nor used in our country. They simply always been ignored. At the same time these products widely used in north America and especially in European countries, like: Lietuva, Latvia, Estonia, Chechia, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden. These countries have sufficient incomes in their local budgets from selling accordingly processed wild fruit, berries, selling wind mushrooms, honey. meat of wild birds and animals. It is high time for our country to follow western countries example. On the first stage it is necessary to account all wild fruits berries and other non-wood products. The it will be necessary to build small factories for processing these products and then to think about realization. It will give additional budget incomes in our country and be additional source of nutrients for our population.
