The aim of the work is to study the compliance of Georgian scientific publications with the requirements of international standards by monitoring a certain part of the publications, taking into account the conditions set by the international scientific bases regarding the quality and authority of the publications. A study of the monitored Georgian scientific publications confirms that the criteria for their quality and authority are only partially met and requires significant efforts to access most popular international databases.

International Scientific Conference - Modern Researches and Prospects of their Use in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Related FieldsUreki, Georgia201621-23 სექტემბერიTSU R. The work reflects the publications in the field of chemistry and chemical technologies published in thematic and multidisciplinary scientific publications of Georgia, which are published as abstracts in the Georgian abstract journal. It has been shown that this field is distinguished by special publishing activity - it is preceded only by the field of medicine. Based on the results of research in the field of chemistry and chemical technology, recommendations have been developed for editorial boards, which are necessary (but not sufficient) to access their international scientific databases, such as the Web of Science (WoS), Scopus. Recommendations were developed on standardization issues of scientific periodicals such as publication of publications, articles and abstracts, requirements for drafting abstracts in Georgian and English, etc. Materials were presented at the stand for comparative visibility of the results of studies conducted in various fields of science.

The 5th Terminological Conference “Scientific Terminology” of Arnold Chikobava Institute of LinguisticsTbilisi, Georgia201714-16 ნოემბერიTSU Arnold Chikobava Institute of LinguisticsThe state of standardization of scientific-technical terminological vocabulary in Georgiaoral

The difficulties that accompany the creation and establishment of scientific-technical Georgian terminology are discussed. It is noted that several international organizations and commissions are working on the issues of standardization of scientific-technical terms. Among them are the UNESCO Terminology Information Center INFOTERM (established in 1971, head office in Vienna) and the International Organization of Specialized Terms (ISTO) (Warsaw). The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is working to create standards for scientific terms. The European Commission Bureau of Terminology (Luxembourg) has created the largest international database of terms EURONET, which contains terminological databases of different countries and focuses on the translation of scientific and technical literature in standard and recommended terminology. The terminological differences found in the Georgian language versions published on the website of the Shota Rustaveli National Foundation of Georgia, a classifier of scientific disciplines of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and published in the Georgian Technical University edition. In some cases this difference is synonymous, and sometimes it expresses a completely different point of view.

Search tool for databases of scientific publications and innovationsTbilisi, Georgia20195 დეკემბერიInstitute TechinformiOn Assigning a Digital Object Index (DOI) to Georgian Scientific Publicationsoral

It is noted that the DOI - digital object index is an essential element of modern scientific publications. Its use greatly simplifies the process of information exchange, increases the authority of the journal, confirms the high technological level of publishing. The digital index can be assigned to the journal title, articles, books, preprints, dissertations, databases, etc. The International Digital Fund (IDF) strongly recommends that publishers of scientific journals establish a permanent identifier for journal names. In this case, when opening the DOI address, one will go to the journal site, where full information about the journal can be received.

In order to introduce the results of the research, a guide "Recommendations for Editorial Boards" has been published, which provides methodological material on the preparation of scientific articles, abstracts, used literature, etc. in compliance with international standards. We aimed to study bibliographies of the science journals of Georgia, reflecting their readiness to be included into the international academic publication databases. 149 active science journals registered in the ISSN National Centre of Georgia and certified by the ISSN International Centre have been reviewed. Information about a journal is taken from the journal’s official website, verified and confirmed by the publisher. 66% of Georgian science journals are found to have a print ISSN (p-ISSN), 14% have an electronic ISSN (e-ISSN), and 20% have both. 76% of publications are mono-disciplinary and 24% are multidisciplinary. Over a third of science journals highlight natural sciences. Most numerous publications deal with such disciplines as economics, law and medicine. Relevance with the inclusion criteria of international science databases has been studied. The criteria include: peer review policy, publication frequency, journal’s independent website, international editorial board, assignment of a digital object identifier (DOI), status of indexation in scholarly databases, etc. The study results evidence that significant number of science journals fail to meet the requirements of the international science databases.
